Geotechnical Industry Legend Tom Richards Retires After 30 Years with ÃÛÌÒÓ°ÏñAV

After 30 years with ÃÛÌÒÓ°ÏñAV, Tom Richards, Chief Engineer, has retired to enjoy the fruits of his labor from a professional life well worked.

Tom has been nothing short of a force of engineering since the beginning of his career in 1985.

He has led the design and testing efforts for hundreds of the most technically challenging projects in the country, including multiple projects for the recovery and reconstruction of the World Trade Center, the Capitol Visitor Center, Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino, and several large dams, including Gilboa Dam and Lake Lynn Dam.

Tom is a licensed Professional Engineer in several states and has published numerous papers focused on helping readers develop a better understanding of difficult technical topics.

He has also been an active member of many professional organizations including the Deep Foundations Institute, the ADSC and the Post Tensioning Institute.

Through a storied career of solving geotechnical mysteries, volunteering his time and experience to industry organizations and mentoring younger generations, Tom has made an immeasurable mark on those he has worked with over the years.

When he’s not boating and skiing during his well-earned retirement, Tom will be working for Nicholsonas a consultant, as needed.

His many friends at Nicholsonwish him the very best in the next chapter of his life.
